Some think of Labor Day weekend as a celebration of the end of summer, but we all know that in Charleston we still have a couple of months of summer weather #blest. Most of these activities are outdoors, so you can take advantage of the beautiful weather and have a great time. From concerts to festivals to watch parties, there is a lot going on this weekend! 

Friday, September 3rd

Labor Day Weekend Bash with The Midnight City at Party at the Point

Event Details: Party At The Point is Charleston's best and longest running happy hour concert series in town. Coming into its 20th season they are ready to reopen the doors to Charleston's one & only Beach Party! The Midnight City is one of Charleston’s most popular cover bands and they play music from all different genres. They always play music that is easy to dance to, so don’t miss out!

Event Details: The Lowcountry Jazz Festival, South Carolina’s premier annual Smooth Jazz event, returns to the Charleston Gaillard Center with a stellar lineup. The festival continues its Labor Day weekend tradition, kicking off Friday, September 3. The first event of the festival is the All White Party Affair in the Ballroom, followed by two more days of world-class smooth jazz and the finest Lowcountry cuisine. 

Edisto Beach Shag Festival

Where: Edisto Beach Bay Creek Park, 3706 Dock Site Rd, Edisto Beach, SC

Price: $15 per day per person or $35 for the whole weekend

Event Details: The premier event on Edisto Beach, presented every Labor Day Weekend (Fri-Sun). What started in 2008 as a fishing tournament with a shag band, has evolved to one of the best shag festivals in South Carolina. Join the fun and visit the different arts & craft vendors and dance to first class music from the top shag bands in the country.

Saturday, September 4th

Event Details: Two Charleston-based bands will be playing at the Windjammer to kick off your Labor Day weekend. Fatty’s Beer Release and College Football Kickoff

County Fair Wine/Mead and Chocolate Pairing

The flavors of the mead or wine will combine with the chocolates to create county fair favorites like caramel apples and banana splits. They will offer samples of 4 of their meads and wine expertly paired with 4 hand-crafted chocolates from Evolution Through Chocolate. Participants will get a commemorative wine glass as well.

80s Bar Crawl on King

Event Details: Bust out your leg warmers, friendship bracelets, hyper-color shirts, and your Chuck Converse, because we are kicking it old school. Check-in will be at The Brick from 3 - 6 pm where you will pick up your scorecards and other swag, then crawl to the other participating bars on your scorecard, enjoying drink specials and getting your scorecard marked at each bar. A portion of all ticket sales will support a great local charity, Going Places.

Event Details: Mex 1 Sullivans Island will be throwing down this Labor Day weekend for their anniversary, Sunday September 5th with a launch party for Los Sunday's Tequila! The party starts at 7pm with free tequila samplings, live music from the Strawberry Squad and they will be giving out some sweet merch for people at the party. You don't have to work Monday, so kick it with them Sunday night and taste some awesome new tequila.
