12 Places to Get a Father's Day Drink in Charleston

The least we could do for all the dads out there is take them out for a drink on Father’s Day and charge it to our own credit card and NOT theirs. There are a lot of options when it comes to going out for drinks in Charleston, but these places are the most dad-friendly, IMO.

If he's a beer drinker:

Munkle Brewing

Munkle Brewing

Munkle specializes in Belgian style beers, which I feel is a very dad style of beer. The brewery itself is very spacious and has plenty of outdoor seating, so your dad won’t be fighting with people to get to the bar. They usually have a pop-up on site for food as well, so spend a pleasant afternoon with your dad at Munkle.

Palmetto Brewing

Palmetto Brewing flights

Palmetto Brewing is the oldest brewery in Charleston and they have a ton of options, no matter what kind of beer your dad prefers. Grab a couple of flights and discuss the flavors to avoid any long awkward pauses about what you’re doing with your life.

Low Tide

Celebrate Father’s Day early and head there on Saturday because they are closed on Sundays!

Their wine is sure to impress and they also have Mediterranean-style plates available for dinner.

If he's a bourbon drinker:

Head to James Island’s neighborhood bourbon bar for a wide selection of bourbons, some of which are the most select from around the world. Although their focus is on bourbon, they have a full bar to enjoy as well. Sit out on the patio or cozy up to the bar with dad to learn something new about bourbon.

Proof

Proof Charleston

Proof has all the elements you're looking for when you want to get a bourbon drink. Its dark and moody lighting match the vibe of quietly sipping a new bourbon concoction with your dad. Their cocktail list is long, but you can’t go wrong with their classic Old Fashioned.

Seanachai Whiskey & Cocktail Bar

Head to John’s island to enjoy this traditional Irish Pub with a twist. Their whiskey list is extensive and if you want to try a bit of everything, you could share a whiskey flight with your dad. If you’re looking to celebrate Father’s Day early, head to their brunch and enjoy a couple of Irish Coffees.

If he likes classic cocktails:

Gin Joint

The Gin Joint is the place to go for unique flavors and classic cocktails with a twist. Order something off the menu or have a little fun with it and leave your fate in the hands of the skilled bartenders. The “Bartender’s Choice” is a custom cocktail that they create based on adjectives that you select from their list. Celebrate early on Saturday as they are closed on Sundays!

Doar Bros

Doar Bros Cocktails

Located on Meeting Street near the Market, Doar Bros is a great place to pop in for a cocktail after a day of exploring Charleston. Their menu features cocktails with whichever spirit you prefer. Try out their rotating seasonal punch or something more adventurous like their “Cappello de Citta” with London Dry Gin, Bénédictine, Red Bell Pepper, Black Pepper, Basil, Lemon, & Cabernet Franc.

After a stroll along King Street, stop into Prohibition for craft cocktails and decor that makes you feel like you’re in a 1920’s speakeasy.
